This batch was a joint effort between me and Alex and came from an idea of Malorie’s. First we made the Northern Brewer All-Grain Petite Saison D’Ete, BIAB-style, with a little added Gambrinus Honey malt to make up for my slightly lower efficiency. Five gallons went into the primary fermenter, and 4 gallons were bottled after 2 weeks. The remaining 1 gallon was put into a secondary vessel where I added about 3/4 lb of black mission figs procured from Reading Terminal Market. The pictures below show what the figs did to this beer in just one week. They kicked off another stage of vigorous fermentation but unfortunately they also soaked up a lot of beer.
This one should be ready to drink in just a few short weeks and I’m really looking forward to trying it. The name just came from pure alliteration and likely from the Allman Brothers binge I’ve been on for the past month or two.
